Community begins on our streets
Our city, our pride
Protect Our Parks Portsmouth is a grassroots community group focused on enhancing the safety and natural beauty of our parks. Volunteers look out for the city of Portsmouth and its communities by walking streets and green spaces, creating a visible, friendly presence where people live, walk, play and connect.
The group strives for a safer, cleaner, greener and more engaging environment for everyone. Its work is built on practical local action: showing up, speaking with people, picking up litter, encouraging pride and helping communities feel seen.
Climb Nova Consultancy helped Protect Our Parks Portsmouth move from a good idea into a more organised community group, supporting the structure, direction and day-to-day foundations needed to keep the work going.
Climb Nova in action
Climb Nova Consultancy supported Protect Our Parks Portsmouth as it developed its identity, structure and community purpose. That support included practical guidance with organisation setup, legal and policy thinking, administration tasks, safer working practices and the kind of planning that helps volunteers work with confidence.
John Ryder is also a regular team member, not just a supporter from the outside. He turns up alongside the group for walks, clean-ups and community activity, helping keep parks, streets and shared spaces cleaner, safer and more welcoming for all members of the community.
How Climb Nova supports the work
Climb Nova helps behind the scenes and on the ground, turning community pride into organised action.
Helping shape the group’s structure, purpose, team direction and practical way of working.
Supporting the background tasks that help a grassroots group operate responsibly and with clearer processes.
Turning up for vulnerable members of the community when outdoor spaces need care, dignity and practical help.
Joining walks, litter-picks and local action to help keep parks safe, welcoming and usable for everyone.
On the ground
Protect Our Parks is about more than litter-picking. It is about community presence, pride, prevention and care. Volunteers walk parks and streets, spot issues, encourage responsibility and help create spaces where families, older people, young people and vulnerable residents can feel safer.
Climb Nova’s role is to strengthen that mission by supporting the group’s organisation, encouraging safe practice and taking part in the practical work itself.
From the flyer
The campaign invites residents to do their bit outside their homes, become neighbourhood champions, get children involved, and send photos of local action to help inspire others.
Our City, Our Pride is the message at the centre of the campaign. Every street, every park and every person can help create a cleaner, smarter and more caring Portsmouth.
The flyer encourages people to build neighbourhoods to be proud of, involve children in local history and responsibility, and share photos of positive action by WhatsApp on 07799 911927.
One street. One park. One community. One Portsmouth.
